Independence Celebrations - Mexico and Central America

IVE Seminarians lined up for the celebration!

September 15th-16th - Flags from Central America and Mexico dominated the walls of the Fulton Sheen House of Formation's seminary hall, as some of the seminarians of the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) celebrated their home countries' days of independence.

These days of September display the active work of the Church's mission ad gentes highlighting the many rich cultures (and richer food!), shapes the lives of those living at the Fulton Sheen House of Formation. Each of the days' main celebrations took place in the evening, when different seminarians, representative of Central America and Mexico respectively, prepared a special meal and entertainment characteristic of their home countries. Tacos, fish, salsas, guacamole, tortillas, and seviche, graced the tables; mariachi and more floated through the air; and healthy fraternity all around.

Some happy seminarians from Central America

As we move on through the academic year, we give thanks for this moment of leisure and pray for the continued missions of the Church and our Institute across the Americas.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!
