Classical Performance - Chillum, MD

Mr. Pasquale and Ms. Nazarro

November 23 - Chillum, MD bloomed, despite the fading fall weather, with the surging chords of the world's greatest composers.

Mr. Pasquale Pulvirenti and his granddaughter Ms. Emily Nazarro played a variety of classical compositions for clarinet and flute in a special recital in honor of St. Cecilia and for the members of the Institute of the Incarnate Word. No note of the event went unappreciated, as Mr. Pulvirenti carefully offered a full description of each piece before it was heard. The selections came from some of the shorter works of Bach and Mozart, including various canons and fugues, with the creations of several contemporary composers interspersed throughout.

The seminarians listen to the performance

The night concluded with a performance on the organ by IVE Father, Elio Sosa, visiting from St. Gabriel's Parish in Brooklyn New York. He continued the earlier theme with some of Bach's pieces for organ, and concluded with Handel and Pachelbel.

We give thanks to the Lord for this opportunity to experience His gift of music and ask the intercession of St. Cecilia and St. Gregory to help us foster whatever musical talents we have received.

Mary, Joy of Angels, pray for us!
