St. Francis, Chicago, ILDue to the large number of those receiving first communion, five First Communion Masses were celebrated with an average of 110 young people receiving the Holy Eucharist for the first time at each Mass.

Holy Communion is one of the principal means for deepening our union with God. Indeed, the Catechism explains that “the principal fruit of receiving the Eucharist…is an intimate union with Jesus Christ [God]” (#1391).

Accordingly, we give thanks to Jesus Christ for the great gift of Himself to this large group of first communicants.
