On Saturday, May14, Seminarians Alwin Anbu and Brian Dinkel graduated from the Catholic University of America with a licentiate degree (Ph.L) in Philosophy.

Brian Dinkle, Ph.L. & Alwin Anbu, Ph.L.The seminarians took eight graduate courses and completed a language requirement during their first two years of study.  In their third year they wrote their thesis and took the final comprehensive exam.  Brian wrote his thesis on the real distinction between esse and essence and Alwin choose to write his on Cornelio Fabro’s interpretation of the fourth proof for the existence of God according to St. Thomas Aquinas.

Beneath the crest of their Alma MaterThere is a strong emphasis on higher education for members of the Institute of the Incarnate Word.  In fact, approximately one third of the priests in the Institute have a licentiate or doctoral degree.  These advanced degrees enable the Institute to provide professors for the IVE seminaries throughout the world.  Congratulations to new Licentiates!

We thank God and our benefactors for providing us with the means for the education of these young men.
